“We have limited the amount of grape varieties that aren’t able to last long in transit”

The last stretch in the Egyptian grape harvest is about to come to an end the good news is that for Bulgarian fresh produce dealer Triland this means that the harvest of grapes is nearly done.

Chief Executive Officer Mariya Dermendzhieva explains: “As an organization, we specialize in the fields of grapes, citrus apples, kiwi and pomegranate. We import grapes from Egypt, Greece, South Africa as well as Australia as well as are in the process of incorporating Peru as a potential source country. Now we’re finishing up the Egyptian wine season. was a wise investment and has paid off already. Our main market is situated in South East Asia, we reduced the quantity of kinds that typically don’t stand up to the lengthy transit time and concentrated on varieties that tend to are successful, like Sugraone Crimson as well as Autumn Royal. This caused the peak of our supplies to the mid and final days of the season when our shipment was concentrated.”

The demand and supply of Egyptian grapes was good all season long Dermendzhieva explains. “Our principal market is Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan and South Korea. Egyptian grapes are allowed to import into a very small amount of these markets, including Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong and China. There were significant price fluctuations during the start of the season that consolidated the price of programed production to levels that were similar as last year’s. Because of the excellent product quality on our farms as well as their lengthy shelf-life, selling was fairly easy. There was no fluctuation or drops in the demand as our clients committed their schedules to us. The Egyptian conditions and weather of the grapes was also a factor to ensure the smooth process in the process of picking and packing.”

Triland has years of expertise in the sourcing and shipping of diverse fruits, particularly those that are from Egyptian origin. Dermendzhieva declares: “We only sell fruits which we are experts in and try to supply these fruit twelve times a year for our customers, if it is feasible. Egyptian fruits make up a significant portion of our selection. We have been working in collaboration with Egyptian citrus in 2011 as well as grapes and pomegranates from 2014. Every year we are working to improve the quality of our fruit and we are able to achieve this through the tireless efforts of our Egyptian partners.”

When the Egyptian grape harvest is finished, Triland will focus on the Greek Kiwi and the pomegranate season Dermendzhieva says. “We’re currently in the final three months of Crimson export season and have begun preparing the last order. In the meantime, we’re ready for a strong demand in the fresh Greek Kiwi season. There are new options for prepacks which will allow our customers the flexibility to choose from. We’re also working on settling the Egyptian and Turkish program for pomegranates, since this season is just beginning.”

Triland will be exhibiting at Asia Fruit Logistica in Hong Kong. The Triland booth will be located in Hall 5, Booth 5L55.
