The forthcoming Moldovan cherry season will yield a good amount according to Stefan Pislaru, sales manager for Moldovan exporter StarAgro Group: “Our Moldovan cherry season generally extends from mid-May to the beginning of July. However, the the exact date can be a bit different dependent on the weather patterns of the season that we closely monitor to ensure the highest quality harvest. Weather variability will always be a possibility, we’re hopeful about the coming season. With the ongoing investment in the most advanced techniques for cultivation and stringent quality checks This season is expected to produce both high yields and consistent high-quality cherries.”
Pislaru is of the opinion that Moldovan cherries are becoming well-known in European market. “Moldovan cherries are distinctive because of their balanced acidity and sweetness, their firm texture, and bright colors. In a perfect environment with an unwavering commitment to sustainability practices, our cherries provide a distinctive flavor. We are currently exporting our cherries to a variety of markets which include those in the United Kingdom and various European countries like Germany, France, and the Benelux region. In addition, we are looking for opportunities to expand the reach of our business globally.”
According to Pislaru’s research, the production of cherries in Moldova is on the rise with a year-long rise due to a variety of aspects: “Over the past few years, we’ve seen an increase in volume of production. In average, there is a 10 percent percentage increase each season. This trend of improvement is fueled by the constant improvement in the latest farming techniques, as well as the expansion of our orchards and our ongoing commitment to the environment.”
“Looking towards the future, our long-term plans include expanding the capacity of our production to meet increasing demand from the global market, while also diversifying and strengthening our markets for exports. Additionally, we will continue investing more in the development of agricultural practices,” Pislaru concludes.
