South Australia enjoys a year-round supply of Oyster mushrooms due to the facility that was built through Epicurean Food Group. The farm is vertical in what was previously an existing Holden Car Factory paint shed.
“This was the very initial Oyster mushroom farm to be established in South Australia – there are any other sources of Oyster mushrooms produced commercially locally. The majority of oyster mushrooms come from Asia to the Australian market” is the explanation of Penny Reidy, SA Produce Market Marketing Manager.
The majority of consumers across South Australia are not familiar with Oyster mushrooms because they have not been in constant quantity as they are. Smaller stores for fruit and veg all over South Australia are increasingly stocking Oyster mushroom products.
“There certainly is a requirement for consumers to be educated on how oyster mushrooms can be used to cook with them in everyday dishes since there’s not a lot of familiarity of them. Select a local store, Pick SA! the brand’s ambassador for food and masterchef, Callum Hann says that mushrooms can add fantastic flavour and texture stir-fries and pasta dishes and suggests home cooks include these to their buttons mushrooms for a diversity.
“The farming investment was prompted by the lack of a suitable product between the markets of every local supplier. Consumer demand for oyster mushrooms has increased – oyster mushrooms have nutrient-rich nutrients that offer multiple health benefits. they are expected to continue growing in popularity. is expected to continue growing because supplies will become accessible with the same quality that originates from the fact that they are cultivated locally.”
