There’s a conflict between the fruit growers and the Storage owners of cold storage facilities in California.

The issue is in Jammu and Kashmir the dispute is brewing between growers of fruit traders, owners, and proprietors of Controlled Atmosphere (CA) and cold storage services. The dispute centers around allegations of the high prices for storage facilities to provide diverse service.

In the words of Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers (KVFG) Union, CA/cold store owners are demanding a high price for storage boxes made of cardboard, costs, tape charges as well as bin/crate fees. Bashir Ahmad Bashir, the chairman of KVFG, Bashir Ahmad Bashir stated that the standard cardboard boxes offered by owners of stores in the CA/cold sector are not as good, yet they’re 30 percent more costly over those on the market. In addition, Bashir said that the owners disallow farmers and traders from buying packaging materials from outside sources and force the purchase of materials at exorbitant prices from CA/cold stores directly.

Another complaint is about the practices for storage and fees for the apple crop as per the Jammu and Kashmir Procedure and Instructions for Controlled Atmosphere Stores (JKPICCA).
