The queen pineapple of Tripura is exports to Holland as well as Dubai

The Tripura government Tripura has begun the export of the Queen Pineapple an apple that was granted a geographical indication (GI) label, and is now available for international markets. The initiative is backed through the North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation (NERAMAC), SIMPET as well as the State Government. An impressive shipping of 600kg of Queen Pineapple has already been delivered to Oman The fruit is moving through Guwahati in order to air-freight it to its destination. In addition, a request for five tons has been received of pineapples from Dubai and talks for around 30 tonnes for Holland are ongoing.

The efforts to export are an integral part of a larger plan to improve the lives of farmers in the area by getting the best market prices for their products. In 2018, under the present administration, the Queen Pineapples have discovered new market opportunities that are located in Dubai, Qatar, and Bangladesh which have contributed to the international export value of 33 tons as well as a national distribution of 12,500 tonnes. In addition to pineapples, the government is also able to successfully export various other agricultural goods like jackfruits, wood apples, ginger, tamarind and betel leaf in substantial volumes. The initiative to export will not just increase the livelihood of farmers but also expanded the land of pineapple production by 595 hectares, which has increased up to 5,654 acres post-2018.
