According to EastFruit according to EastFruit, it appears that the Ukrainian tomato market has been experiencing an upward trend in prices. The reason for this is due to a decrease in supply of tomatoes that come from local farms. In the meantime, demand for the item is steady, helping prices.
Presently, Ukrainian producers are willing to market their greenhouse tomatoes for between 50 and 60 UAH per kilogram ($1.21-1.45/kg) This is 17percent more than the beginning of the week. The truth is that the greenhouse tomatoes grown in Ukraine are selling at the most expensive price ever recorded in the past seven years.
The representatives of greenhouses say that the huge rise in the demand from domestic markets lets them increase their prices. Retail chains in the local area and wholesale businesses are increasingly interested in buying these crops. Furthermore, the rise in prices is driven by the growing prices of field-grown tomatoes as well as the shortage of green and open-field products.
It’s important to note that the greenhouse tomatoes of Ukraine currently in the average 2.2 times costlier than the first quarter of September 2023.
