Better and more modern varieties of blackberries continue to thrive as well as for a cooperative run by growers they are ushered into a new age. North Bay Produce says its Erandy(r) blackberry line is set to enjoy a robust season in the coming year. Large berries like Erandy have resistant to regression as well as a absence of seeds and also have a longer shelf-life and delicious, balanced sweetness that is particularly consistent in the peak time of their season.

The cooperative’s berry varieties are harvested in Mexico and will arrive in mid-November until the middle of June. Alongside Erandy, in addition to Erandy, North Bay is offering Erendira(r)-a medium to large blackberry, with a higher Brix and firmness that is improved and lower regression. These two blackberries are thriving that signifies that North Bay will be 100 percent free of Tupi during 2024/25 Mexican year of blackberries.
Grower-friendly fruit is harvested in Mexico and will be in the market from mid-November until the middle of June.
Genetics and its role
Although blackberries are only one berry that which the cooperative offers (along with strawberries, blueberries and raspberries) the berries come with high expectations. “The blackberry market is huge opportunities for industry players and genetics that are proprietary like the Erandy can be the determining factor in unlocking this opportunity by giving a consistent, tasty dining experience for customers,” said Sarah Quackenbush the sales manager for North Bay. “We have discovered in all of our genes across all berries that having a consistent dining experience improves trust in the consumer and results in an incremental increase in sales.”
