Drewry’s aggregate World Container Index decreased by 0.2 percent to $1,682.10 per 40ft container during this week.

The index composite has dropped by 0.2 percentage this week and is down 77.9 percent when compared to the previous week.

The most recent Drewry WCI composite index of $1,682 for a 40-foot container is currently 84% lower than the record of $10,377 that was attained in September of 2021. This is 37% less than the average for 10 years of $2,688, signalling the return of more regular costs, yet it is still 17% higher than the average for 2019 (pre-pandemic) prices of $1,420.

The median composite index of the past year is $1,851 per 40ft of container this is less than the 10 year average ($2,688 that was mentioned earlier).

The index for the composite decreased by 0.2 percent, by 0.2% to $1,682.10 each 40ft container which is 77.9 percentage lower than similar week of 2022. The freight rates for Rotterdam and New York fell 6% which is $255-$3,714 for a feu. Similar to that, rates for New York – Rotterdam declined by 4%, settling $813 for a 40ft container. But, rates for Shanghai as well as New York increased by 3 percent, or $73 up to $2,833 for a 40-foot container.

The rates for Rotterdam as well as Shanghai along with Shanghai and Shanghai – Los Angeles dropped 1% to $579 and $1,782 for a 40ft containers, respectively. But rates for Shanghai and Rotterdam increased by 1percent to $1,543 for each feu. But rates on Shanghai Genoa Genoa as well as Los Angeles – Shanghai hovered at the same level as last week’s. Drewry anticipates that East-West spot rates to fall further over the next couple of months.
