In the middle of the year Optiflux has launched Quality Insights. It is a smartphone app which allows growers trader, inspectors, or graders to assess the quality of thousands of fruits using just a few images. The company was awarded the “Idea of the year 2023” contest from Fruit Trade magazine. It’s a mobile app that is accessible from any mobile device.
“You are able to scan the barcodes of an Optiflux or enter a manually-identified code and snap a photo. Based on the image analysis technology that you receive distributions of color, size and proportional blush on apples as well as bronze and pear” claims Niels Bessemans, the CEO of Optiflux. In this way, you can get an accurate picture of the stock you have from the time of harvest to. Registration of quality will be conducted efficiently, in a fair and honest manner. The scanner scans the upper layer, and can thus measure 150 fruit in one photograph.
The new software applications mean that both large and small producers are being analyzed. So, a different version of the app is being developed for bigger buyers. “This won’t be a application for mobile devices, but rather an fixed camera configuration. When it is passed by the forklift that has three crates it captures images of the top one prior to it being placed in the refrigerator. This means you will have one image three crates inside a fridge that is equipped with Quality Insights’ technology. It’s an assessment report based on size and color from every cold store or graph.”
This information from the beginning helps the commercial department efficiently match demand and supply. Furthermore, it’s important to organize the sorting and packing machines by utilizing the appropriate team. Many employees are able to take pictures at the same time, and their reports are easily distributed internally and externally to all parties.
It is then possible to match this information with the different module Storage Insights which is a prescriptive quality management system that analyzes quality and storage. In the event of a demand for a specific high-quality product, with Quality Insights you can see if you’ve got it in your fridge. And using Storage Insights you are able to ask “Okay I’ve got five of them however which of them will be the most profitable to sell according to their storage capabilities?” All of the information is available all in one location, offering you the data that you require to make the best decision. In the end, we’d like to ensure an unbeatable quality across the entire chain using our technologies,” Niels concludes.
The 30th of July, at 19:00, Optiflux will hold a webcast to showcase the tool and give interested users an opportunity to try the software at no cost. Participation in the webinar will be made at www.optiflux.world.
