The Northwest harvest of sweet cherries is now underway and a fresh supply of this superfruit will appear in the produce section across the country. “Growers have called 2024’s Northwest harvest a very average one with excellent high-quality cherries.” declared B.J. Thurlby who is president of the Northwest Cherry Growers. “We see cherries distributed throughout the canopy and with less large clusters of cherries than in 2023. With the warmer temperatures and the increase in volume, we are seeing an increase. In the past, these kinds of fruit sets have produced large, gorgeous cherries as well as top shelf-quality.”
