Saudi companies work in partnership with Alibaba to increase exports of date

Many firms that are from Saudi Arabia have visited Alibaba Group’s headquarters in Hangzhou with the aim of enhancing the visibility of Saudi dates on the global market. The event, hosted through NCPD, the National Center for Palms and Dates (NCPD) was designed to show off premium dates as well as the products of 23 Saudi firms to Chinese food and beverage firms. For six days, the main focus was to leverage Alibaba to promote and exports of Saudi dates to markets around the world which included China.

Mohammed Al Nuwairan, NCPD director of operations, said the inclusion of Saudi dates available on Alibaba’s website could allow them to gain access to international market. This is in line with the alliance between companies that produce dates as well as Alibaba Group during the World of Dates Expo that was held in Riyadh in December. Al Nuwairan emphasized that the visit highlights the NCPD’s role in helping Saudi dates as well as their products in establishing their products as the best choice globally.

2023 was the year that Saudi Arabia experienced a 14 percent increase in the exports of dates and other products, which indicates a growing worldwide market. Between 2016 and 2023 Saudi dates exports experienced an increase of a substantial amount in the quantity of countries that import Saudi dates increasing from 119 to 119.
