Sanitizing fruit, vegetables and plants in an ecofriendly way

An effective, safe, and sustainable sanitizer that leaves no residue and that can be used on all fruits and vegetables, surfaces, and plants. Sanodyna® is an eco-friendly product based on Electro Chemical Activation (ECA) technology, an innovative process that uses only water, salt, and electricity.

“This patented technology,” explains Alberto Sgorbati of the Sgorbati Group, “is suitable for numerous applications in the fruit and vegetable sector. We started with the Italian market, but today we are expanding internationally: our machines have arrived in Spain and South America.”

The expansion of Sanodyna does not stop here. “We are approaching strategic markets such as Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia,” continues Sgorbati, “and we are looking for new distributors to consolidate our global presence. We are also developing partnerships with sorting machine manufacturers to apply the system directly on sorting lines.”

Practical applications: Concrete results in the field
Sanodyna technology has already been successfully implemented in numerous production contexts. Here are a few examples.

Basil processing. Thanks to the reactivity of the product, the production capacity of the washing line was increased, and the shelf life of the product was extended by 5 days compared to the use of hypochlorite. The company also uses Sanodyna in the field to treat downy mildew.

Frozen food industry. In washing tanks for tomatoes and spinach, the system completely eliminates bacterial loads prior to freezing, saving chemicals and reducing contamination recalls to zero.

Rocket and strawberry nurseries. Sanodyna is used in the fertigation process, ensuring total absence of disease and keeping the greenhouse environment sterile. The same system is used to sterilize trays and equipment.

Fresh-cut segment. The implementation of the company’s water treatment system has led to a total reduction in non-conformities and an extension of the shelf life of the products by 4 days.

Apple processing plant. Prevents the spread of fungus, especially in the presence of damaged fruit at harvest time, by continuously disinfecting the sorting water.

Carrot packaging. Application between grading and packing ensures effective sanitization, improving product shelf life and reducing waste.

“Sanitization in the fruit and vegetable sector,” concludes Alberto Sgorbati, “concerns not only fresh-cut and ready-to-eat products, but also the plants and the water itself. Consumers are increasingly aware of the presence of chemical residues in food, and Sanodyna responds to this need with a natural, effective, and certified solution.”

The Sgorbati Group will showcase its sanitization system at Macfrut, stand D1-195.
