Rwanda will continue its experiment with exports of avocado via sea freight following an initial shipment that was successful into Dubai in November of the year before. The first shipment, which carried more than 23 tons of Hass avocados, showed that shipping by sea was 44 percent less expensive than air freight. The avocados were transported to the Carrefour supermarket in Dubai located within Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.
Exporters could get advice from industry professionals on the challenges, successes and suggestions in addition to establishing a connect with other stakeholder. The initiative is in line with Rwanda’s plans to discover an efficient and affordable method for transporting exports of horticulture since airfreight is proven to be costly.
