The residents of The Russian Far East face different problems related to food. Its arid climate and low density of population affect farming. The supply of goods is an arduous job. Moving goods to from the Far East of Russia, which includes high-quality vegetables, fruits and berries is executed in an emergency method. This means that the prices of food in this region are much greater than those in other areas of the nation.
An investigation conducted in August 2023 showed that 14% of inhabitants of The Russian Far East face a lack of premium produce, including vegetables, fruits and the berries. Transporting these items across long distances as well as through difficult logistical situations often results in spoilage.
Although Chinese merchandise is available at the retail outlets throughout the Russian Far East but the selection of Chinese products is very limited and many people in the region choose Russian items that are familiar to the local population.
