“Pumpkin remains a complete globe to explore, as well as an audience to conquer”

Spain is home to a variety of traditional vegetables and fruits, that are well-known and appreciated at a national level. But they is not widely available outside the season that is theirs. “One of the vegetables that is included in this list is pumpkin,” declares David Casanoves of Yummy Fresh. “Valencia is one of them. It is a producer of peanut pumpkins, and is well-known across the region and is highly loved for its interior high-quality and sweetness. The region of Seville is also home to Rotena pumpkins as well as Murcia also produces Totanera pumpkins, which are similar to that of the Marina de Chioggia pumpkin, that is from in the Italian zone of Veneto. An additional outstanding example of this is Carruecano pumpkin that is consumed mainly by the Basque Country and enjoys wide recognition in the Basque Country region.”

“Yummy Fresh is already in the process of producing and selling sweet onions outside of the season in Peru. One of our clients wanted to know if we can also provide pumpkins during the traditional season.”

“Producing pumpkins gave us the chance to rotate the areas we had used for growing onions. This was in Peru. In the beginning, the market for pumpkins was a closed market which was yet to be improved, particularly in the season that is not in. We were able to fill a market that was empty between February and June by offering the product that was evidently growing, and so in 2007, we began producing the product.”

“We’ve been providing pumpkins in the season off for more than seventeen years. We specialize with varieties like Muscat, Carruecano, Valencian Peanut as well as Delica kinds.”

“In the past few years there have been several new varieties, many of them hybrids. In the meantime the supermarkets are progressively reducing the variety of products they carry, slowly settling to one type and that will be the Butternut variety.”

“Many chains adhere to this product simplifying line, however we are aware of other types. For instance, in America, for example. United States, for example supermarkets are able to sell 4 or five different varieties of pumpkin And, perhaps most important the market has a consumer who appreciates and is awed by the local products of particular regions. Reducing all of this to a single standard at a national scale cannot be done.”

The team at Yummy Fresh supply our counter-season pumpkins to major national as well as international fresh as well as fourth-range clients. In some instances, there are situations that we aren’t able to keep enough inventory to satisfy requirements.”

The past couple of years, the rise in consumption of pumpkin that has increased along with the rise in consumption of sweet potatoes, is a remarkable event. “Consumption is growing exponentially specifically due to the fourth range which allows for an increase in consumption across all levels at both retail and within the sector.”

“Many designs and items created with pumpkin have appeared over the last few years, ranging including roasted pumpkins to new ideas such as pumpkin lasagna sheets. We are certain that many new innovations are in the pipeline and consumption, though increasing quite a bit in the last few years is likely to continue to grow significantly.”
