Pakistan Customs has set the maximum value of export for Kino on December 1st 2024 through May 15th, 2025 for the for the season of export. The value, as per Ruling No. 4/2024 is $410 per kilogram for the majority of market segments, and a higher price of $310 per millimetric ton for B or C-grade Kino that is destined for Afghanistan. The decision is based on directives issued by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) as well as the Ministry of Commerce, aiming to establish a standard for export valuations as well as deal with concerns of stakeholders within the sector of exporting fruit.
The valuation process required consultations with key stakeholders, such as those from the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) as well as the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) as well as The All Pakistan Fruit & Vegetable Exporters, Importers & Merchants Association (PFVA) as well as Kino exporters. The meetings, which took place between May and November 2024, concentrated on the establishment of fair value guidelines based on data from exports, international market trends, and feedback from stakeholder.
The process used for calculating export values is in line with the Customs Act, ensuring that the declared values for transactions and/or values, if applicable, have precedence over customs value for the sake of fairness. The decision is open to an appeal for 30 days within Section 25D in the Customs Act and will remain in force until amended or cancelled. It recommends precise declarations and adherence to export rules to allow for seamless trade and to ensure transparent operations in Kino exports.
