MustGrow Biologics Corp., as well as Janssen PMP, a division of Janssen Pharmaceutica NV, one of the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson are excited to announce an important increase to their Exclusive Evaluation and Option Agreement (the “Agreement”) to explore and refine MustGrow’s biologic mustard plant-based technology for specific postsharvest storage of food preservation worldwide. The Agreement is now extending to include all postharvest bananas and potatoes globally.
According to the Agreement that was signed, the initial project did not contain postharvest potato and bananas. But, after fifteen months of postharvest assessment tasks completed using MustGrow’s software, Janssen PMP and MustGrow have delivered very positive and efficient results, which support the choice to include the postharvest bananas and potatoes to the Janssen PMP’s sole assessment work.
“The postharvest banana industry is among our historic market where the demand for natural fungicides is increasing. In addition, creating an organic technology that acts as an anti-sprouting system and an agronomic fungicide to store potatoes could be a huge potential to Janssen PMP and for the business.” According to Geoffroy de Chabot-Tramecourt, Director of R&D as well as Business Development at Janssen PMP.
“Food preservation and storage continues to be an important worldwide issue. Our current collaboration in conjunction with Janssen PMP on the postharvest preservation of food has yielded favorable results using our technology and natural processes that continue to expand possibilities and market segments” says MustGrow Co-Owner Colin Bletsky.
“Janssen PMP is a leader in postharvest technology, with over 50 years of postharvest market and development experience It is anticipated that the combination of these two essential storage solutions will speed up commercialization processes by using the expertise gained through the testing of other crops and fruits as well.”
Janssen PMP will continue to finance and manage all applications development and testing work.
