The international analysis platform EastFruit says that exports from Egypt of fruit and vegetables decreased to 5 percent, in the first week of October and 18.1 percentage, respectively in the beginning week of October when compared to the previous week in September.
The exports of vegetable products during the first month of October totalled 21,000 tons, down from 21,000 tons in the final week of September. Exports of potatoes increased to 8,000 tons, up from 7700 tons, and onion exports dropped to 7,000 tons from 8,000 tonnes. Exports of green beans also decreased to 5,000 tonnes, dropping by 1,000 tonnes as per the daily report by the Media Center of the National Food Safety Authority.
Exports of fruit in the initial week of October topped 22,000 tonnes, which is down 4000 compared to the previous month of September. According to EgyptToday reports, the exports of pomegranates stood at 10,000 tons, which is down by 1000 tons. Meanwhile, mango exports fell to 7,000 tonnes, a decrease of 2,000 tonnes. Exports of strawberry also decreased to 5,000 tons, a decrease by 1000 tons.
In the latest report from the General Administration of Food Safety the amount of export certificates for food issued was 3,310 messages and the export of goods amounted to 160,000 tonnes. The exports comprised 560 kinds of fresh fruits and vegetables, flour, as well as other food items.
This week, Saudi Arabia was the most important exporter of Egyptian exports. This was then Morocco and Italy in the 150 countries that import.
