The Greenery has appointed David Markowski (37) as their Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Markowski succeeds Steven Martina, who left to join Zespri in the month of August.
David Markowski
Markowski is employed by The Greenery in various executive capacities since the end of November, 2019. In this time, David held the roles director of Growers as well as Group Strategist Director. In his role as Group Strategy Director David is among the main forces behind changing The Greenery into a future-proof business and was also the driving force for the longer-term Focus 2025 strategy that was established from the time of its creation.
Better competitive positioning and maximum value for our cultivators
Markowski states, “I am very much anticipating that we can successfully roll out Focus 2025 in this role in the hope of building a stronger market position, and maximizing return for our farmers. The field-to-fork chain is growing rapidly over recent time, and is putting the pressure on margins as well as partnerships within the chain. We, as a management team we would like to turn The Greenery into a flatter company that is more agile and will be better equipped to handle the current challenges of the vegetable and fruit chain.”

Transform experience gained in different executive roles
David was previously in a variety of managerial positions prior to beginning his tenure at The Greenery, including various European jobs at the telecom service provider Liberty Global, within ABN AMRO’s M&A team, and also as the COO for digital media firm 9024 Media. In these different roles, He led changes and was in charge of procedures for business takeovers. In addition, these roles enabled David to prove his ability to speed up the process of transformation an organization and to adapt to the changing environment by operating using a clear plan and using a steady, hands-on approach to leadership.
