New South Wales farmers to come together to fight for their futures in Australia

NSW Farmers is urging everyone to join a pro-farming protest that will be held in Washington, the capital city of the nation on the 10th of September. NSW Farmers President Xavier Martin announced that the gathering at the foot of Parliament House will be an important moment for the fight for the protection of fiber and food production from the anti-farming policies that could result in billions for the nation.

“Farmers always have provided food to Australians as well as clothes on our backs. But the decisions being taken in Canberra which are making the task more difficult to achieve that,” Martin said.

“We must make good choices from Canberra to support our farmers that literally provide food and clothing for our country. And this event is our opportunity to prove policymakers and politicians that the farmers are not going to sit and watch as they misunderstand fact and evidence in order to agree with the philosophies of the anti-farming activists. Land, water as well as the laborers needed to cultivate our food are lost due to poor choices, and we have take action now to protect the farmers in our midst prior to our food security being put in serious danger.”

The rally in the country will concentrate on important issues like the double tax that is proposed for farmers who are biosecurity-focused as well as the effects of the transition to renewable energy on rural communities, the draught of fresh water from Basin communities and into the ocean and the prohibition of exports of live sheep by the sea.

Martin encouraged all to show their love in the field of agriculture by taking part in the rally, and asking federal legislators to change their policies against farmers.

“Farmers all over the world find themselves increasingly forced to defend their agriculture when politicians put policies in the market that could threaten agricultural security and force farmers out of the market. Australia is not an exception, and we’d like to see farmers show up to the streets in a mass of thousands on October 10 to make sure that everyone in the Aussie family is able to put food in their stomachs, as well as clothes to wear.”

The rally is scheduled to begin at 11 am on September 10, at the Federation Mall, opposite Parliament House.
