“New garlic harvest has finished The high costs of shipping have slowed traders’ desire to invest in”

The harvest of new garlic started in May, and is nearly finished in all production zones. They have already begun taking orders and the first shipment of garlic shipped by sea is scheduled to be delivered in the near future.

“Mr. Wang, head of the department of sales of Jining Shangzhuo Food Co., Ltd., explained, “Due to low temperatures earlier in the season markets were expecting a lower harvest of garlic. However, favorable weather in the harvest time, without rain, has produced the highest quality garlic of this year.”

He also noted that the recent pricing for garlic has been unsteady. Numerous merchants are keen to deliver large quantities at the time of their first delivery date that is causing prices to rise. “We recently received a request for a bulk box of 5.0-grade garlic for the FOB cost of 1220 USD per tonne (approximate depending on fluctuations).”

“On the side of exports there has been a general increase in demand lately, however the increasing shipping prices in May has significantly pushed up the price of exports of garlic. At present, the cost of shipping between Qingdao Port to NWC Ports can cost between 6700 and 7000 USD per ton which is significantly increasing the cost of exports.”

As well as garlic production, Jining Shangzhuo Food Co., Ltd. also exports onions, ginger apples as well as apples. The company is certified by GAR, BRC, and Sedex accreditations.
