Malaysia prohibits docking on Israeli as well as Israel-bound vessels

The day before, Malaysia barred any Israeli or Israeli-bound vessels from docking at their ports. Demonstrations in support of Palestine are a regular occurrence throughout Malaysia from October. Malaysia’s sweeping ban on ships belonging to the Israeli shipping firm ZIM and any vessels that fly Israel’s flag is announced by the Premier Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said in a press release “Malaysia is also banning on all ships heading for Israel of loading cargo into Malaysian ports. The restrictions also take effect with immediate effective.”

Malaysia does not have formal relations between it and Tel Aviv, while it has been vocal for a long time in its support of Palestinian independent status. It has not allowed citizens of its country to use passports for entry into Israel and has also barred Israelis from entering its territory.
