Halsey’s selection of merchandise comprises frozen and fresh meats, freshly cut and frozen products, condiments, spice and canned items as well as kitchen equipment and even paper goods. They also supply independent eateries which include those in the Mexican and BBQ segments, C-stores as well as various foodservice businesses across Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky and Mississippi.
The President and CEO Cecilia Halsey has guided significant expansion plans to meet growing business needs, which includes the development of a 260,000 sq ft distribution center with an area for processing meats to support Their Fresh Meat Division, produce processing area that includes four coolers to support the Produce Division, commercially equipped Test Kitchen, and many more.
“We could not be more thrilled to become part of Legacy Food Group,” stated Halsey. “This partnership was the perfect opportunity to preserve the autonomy which has distinguished us over the past 140 years by giving us access to better assets and capital to aid in the growth of our company.”
Halsey will keep its name, and current the management team. All employees still employed and operating as an independent entity in its local markets, operating as a division of LFG. It will be able to access better supplier relationships, more integrated benefits in purchasing along with coordinated sales and marketing assistance, as well as other tools which will enhance the regional performance of the company.
“Joining Legacy Food Group instantly will give us the help we need to grow our business and drive new growth in sales,” said Terry Giles the COO and Senior EVP of Halsey. “It’s an all-win situation for us. We can maintain the autonomy of our operations which is so popular with our customers and reap the advantages of group cooperation.”
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Halsey Foodservice as part of the Legacy Food Group family,” stated Steve Push, CEO of LFG. “Cecilia Halsey and her staff have been a great team to carry on her family’s longstanding traditions while making Halsey into an industry leader of premium quality food products throughout the Southeast region. We’re particularly pleased about the fact that Cecilia, Terry, and General Sales Manager Joe Spearman will remain in their leadership positions at present.” The purchase, Cecilia, Terry, and Joe will put their money to acquire equity within Legacy Food Group.
“The inclusion to Halsey Foodservice is a big move for our company. This expands our reach to the Southeast region that is a region which is undergoing a rapid growth of an independent food and beverage scene” added John Miller, President of LFG. “We will continue to look for potential partnerships that will help us grow our footprint in the Southeast region.”
