Kyrgyzstan added more banana imports into 2024.

Kyrgyzstan has significantly boosted its imports of bananas between 2024 and 2023 by purchasing 36,993.5 tonnes worth $27.02 million. This represents a dramatic increase from 2023 where the country had imported 28,543.4 tons worth $18.65 million, based on figures provided by the National Statistics Committee.

Most of the bananas imported came from Ecuador the main supplier for Kyrgyzstan. The imports in 2024 from Ecuador were 32,387.9 tons. This was $23.03 million. This was 31% more than 2023 when 24,737.2 tons were imported at $14.7 million. The cost of purchase for Ecuadorian bananas to Kyrgyzstan was $711 for a ton.

  • Other than Ecuador and Peru, the other main suppliers of fruit to Kyrgyzstan by 2024 were:
  • China The Chinese have 2,288.2 tonnes valued at $1.47 millions (compared to five tonnes worth $2,000 in 2023).
  • Russia Russia 1,757.7 tonnes valued at $1.97 millions (compared to 3,123.6 tonnes worth $3.35 million by 2023).
  • Kazakhstan Kazakhstan 421.8 tons valued at $467,700 (compared the value of 625.4 tons that will be worth $566,500 in 2023).
  • Turkey turkey 73.5 tonnes worth of $36,700 (compared with 52.2 tons valued at $26,100 by 2023).
  • India Indians 64.2 tonnes worth $50,000 (no Imports into India were reported in 2023).
