Avocados are now one of Tanzania’s top exports, as more farmers take part in what’s known as “green gold.”
Tanzania isn’t in the top 10 of producers in the world despite its production reaching new records. This is because a lot of the country is controlled by countries located in Central as well as South America.
Producing an annual total of the equivalent of 176,045 tonnes, Kenya is the sole African country that is among the top 10 of producers of avocados according to the most current World of Statistics study.
Mexico is the most prolific producer with 1,889,354 tonnes of production each annually, followed by Dominican Republic, Peru, Colombia, Peru, Peru and Indonesia producing 304,938 tonnes per year. Other nations are Brazil (195,492) and Brazil (195,492) United States (172,630), Chile (137,365) and China (122,942 at 10th position).
Based on the Tanzania Horticultural Association (TAHA) by 2021, Tanzania’s exports of avocado would amount to 11237 tons, equivalent to 510 containers, which would be with a value of $33 million.
It’s an increase of 12.6 percentage increase over the revenue for 2020. Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) reports that in 2018, the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) states that in the year 2018 Tanzania exported 7,551 tons of its products in Europe, Africa, and Asia with a total value of $8.5 million.
Tanzania will export 15,000 tonnes of avocados by 2023. The country is expected to earn the sum of $45 million in foreign exchange as per TAHA. Tanzania has only recently begun exporting avocados as of 2009.
