The present geopolitical environment has been challenging and the logistics industry has also been impacted by the changes. “Both the goods and customers have adjusted to the current circumstances,” says Massimo Delpozzo director of sales for Nord Ovest, the Italian logistic company Nord Ovest. This does not suggest a lack of enthusiasm to explore new options. As an example there’s been an increase in airfreight of highly valuable fruit and exports through modified atmospheric containers.”

“In view of the ongoing closing of Suez Canal, Nord Ovest has drawn on its years of expertise, vast studies and constant search for new solutions to satisfy customer’s ever-changing requirements. In this season we’re seeing an increase in exports of apples. Apples are being exported to an array of Asian destinations, which includes ones located around and around the Cape of Good Hope. Due to the experiences made in the last few years, our customers have again asked for containers with a modified atmosphere.
But, it isn’t just a matter of those in the Asian market. In addition, Italian apples are being exported to North America (including Canada) and also to Mexico and other places within South America. “Conversely the current situation is that there’s little demand for exporting Kiwifruit, due to the smaller quantity available,” Says Delpozzo.
Rents have held steady after the rises at the start of this year. “At Nord Ovest, our goal is to provide our clients with the support they require to achieve success. This includes the management of procedures, the search of possible solutions, monitoring of expenses and the prevention of difficulties at the root. Additionally, a regular examination of geopolitical and destination circumstances is carried out prior to the start of any operations.”
