Importing cherries and apricots into Russian regions is subject to inspection

The Chelyabinsk Region, Chelyabinsk’s initial 40.8 tonnes of cherries of Uzbekistan were received. Uzbekistan arrived between 13 and 14 May 2024.

In the period of 15-16 May, 16 tons of apricots originating from Tajikistan and 29 tonnes of apricots from Uzbekistan were brought into Chelyabinsk. If the fruit is inspected and there are the quarantine pests have not been found the entire 45 tons can be sold.

The first week of May, officials from Rosselkhoznadzor within the Sverdlovsk region examined 80 tons of watermelon that came from Iran and 120 tonnes strawberries coming from Azerbaijan. The quarantine pests weren’t discovered. In Yekaterinburg there are 160 tonnes of strawberries originate from Azerbaijan as well as Turkey and 280 tonnes of watermelons are already shipped in and shipped to Iran, Iran being the largest producer of watermelons.

In the first quarter of the year 2024, Rosselkhoznadzor located in Zabaykalsky Krai has inspected 6,700 tons of lemons from China which is more than 116 times the amount as compared to 58 tons in the 2023 time frame.
