Horticulture a key driver for future agricultural development

Tanzania places horticulture at the top of its list as one of the key drivers for the future of agriculture as per the Deputy Minister Stanislaus Nyong’o. The sector is a major employer of youngsters and women and is essential to employment creation, increasing exports, as well as improving the security of food. In the opening ceremony of Enza Zaden’s organic expansion plan in Arusha It was revealed that the export amount was 668.7 million Tanzanian shillings. There were 175,000 tonnes of product being shipped out in the current fiscal year. Tanzania is reducing dependence on imports of seeds and is now growing 78.6 percent of its kernels.

Ambassador Wiebe de Boer has praised Enza Zaden because of its cooperation with Tanzanian farmers. She also said that the business employs nearly 3000 people around the world and helps in the supply of food globally. The president of Enza Zaden highlighted its dedication to high-quality by adhering to international requirements for the production of seeds.
