Green chili is showing no sign of cooling in Bangladesh

After the Eid celebrations this week, the price of green chili increased to record levels of Tk1,000 per kilogram. Although quick imports and various methods of monitoring market prices lowered the prices slightly but there was a rebound in the final days of the week. the end.

In the midst of market raids conducted of consumer rights groups across several districts, and the importation through land-based ports the green chilis were priced at Tk550 per kilogram on Thursday, in Dhaka. In the meantime, prices for tomatoes jumped up to Tk250-260 per pound as did potato, which jumped in the range of Tk50 and onion up to Tk90.

Green chili prices reached record-breaking levels of volatility in the last week, as prices shot up from Tk500 to 1000 per kilogram between June 30 between June 30 and July 2.
