A lot of growers from the Northwest are thrilled by their apples this year. The business must be prepared to locate homes for the around 140 million 40-pound boxes of apple from Washington. A majority of apples are gone from the orchards right now and are being sort and put in boxes. Certain varieties will go into an in-storage facility while other are shipped straight off to stores across the United States and throughout the globe.
One positive indication for the export of apple is that India has returned to the import of apples following the removal of tariffs. The apple packers and growers are extremely excited over India returning to the market. In the first few days in Washington, packers have sent around 200,000 boxes of apple to India following the time that trade tariffs were lifted in the month of September.
