Apple stocks in Europe reached 3,038,976 tons as of 1 February 2025, reflecting a 4.8% decrease compared to the same date in 2024, when stocks stood at 3,193,280 tons. The decline amounts to over 154,000 tons year-on-year, with significant reductions reported in countries such as Austria (-40.2%), Belgium (-29.0%), Czech Republic (-61.9%), and Poland (-19.0%). Germany and Italy also recorded lower stocks, down 9.5% and 4.2% respectively. In contrast, some countries saw increases, including Denmark (+62.4%), Switzerland (+35.0%), and the United Kingdom (+34.7%).
Italy held the highest volume of apple stocks in February 2025 at 1,065,636 tons, followed by France (529,619 tons) and Poland (739,000 tons). These top-producing countries continue to account for the majority of Europe’s apple inventory. Despite some regional increases, the overall downward trend reflects notable differences in stock levels across the continent. The total volume of apples moved in 2025 up to this point was 648,124 tons, slightly below the 657,818 tons moved during the same period in 2024.
Pear Stocks
As of 1 February 2025, pear stocks in Europe totaled 398,325 tons, representing a 1.4% decrease compared to the 404,116 tons recorded on the same date in 2024. Several countries recorded lower stock levels year-on-year, including Belgium (-20.7%), the Czech Republic (-32.2%), Spain (-47.2%), and The Netherlands (-14.5%). Conversely, some countries reported notable increases, such as Italy (+442.4%), Switzerland (+141.0%), France (+74.7%), and the United Kingdom (+29.0%). The volume of pears moved in 2025 so far was 210,219 tons, compared to 178,471 tons during the same period in 2024.
Among individual countries, The Netherlands held the largest volume of pear stocks in February 2025 with 153,613 tons, followed by Belgium (103,631 tons) and Italy (63,911 tons). Other notable stock levels included Poland (28,500 tons) and Spain (22,210 tons). While overall stocks declined slightly, year-on-year changes varied significantly across countries, reflecting differing stock movement volumes and inventory levels throughout the region.
