Egyptian cultivators have finished their first part of the strawberry harvest. The remaining fresh strawberry harvest will last through February, when the exports of frozen strawberries begin. In the words of Amr Kadah, Export Manager at Fruit.Farm: “Egypt is set to export more strawberry than the previous season.”
Kadah describes: “The area devoted to strawberries has grown significantly during the lead-up to the season in Egypt which has now reached 70, 000 acres. Over the years we’ve been able to benefit from several factors which favor this type of crop. climate conditions that are perfect and the fact that Egypt is in the middle of continents, the cost of production and the knowledge of Egyptian farmers and their workers. All of our efforts yield top quality fruits that are extremely sought after. We grow the most well-known kinds available like Sweet Sensation, the well-recognized Fortuna, Florida and Festival varieties. The varieties we produce are tasty and are fragrant, as well as brix levels which can reach 9.9%”.
Therefore, Kadah expects Egypt to surpass the half-million-tonne mark for the production of strawberries from last season. The official adds “At Fruit.Farm We expect our supply of fresh strawberry production to rise by at minimum 40 000 tonnes. The same trend can be seen all across the country due to the increased acreage. The sector continues to expand with no major issues or insurmountable obstacles except for the cost of production, which continues to increase.”
“The increase in the cost of production could also be attributed to the ability of Egyptian exporters and producers to market demands” Kadah adds Kadah. “We rapidly adapted to changes in laws and we invested in equipment to ensure the security and durability of our goods during transportation. From cold storage through to careful packaging No stone has been made to be left unturned in order to make sure that those berries are on shelves just as fresh as when they were harvested.”
That’s why Egyptian strawberry can be located in more than fifty countries, says Kadah. “You are able to eat Egyptian strawberries across the majority of European countries, including the Arab Gulf countries, Russia as well as Asia. The strawberries we sell are shipped across more than 50 countries We continue to supply the demands each year. The major markets for our strawberries include Belgium, Germany, the UK, Russia, the Netherlands, France, Ireland, South American countries, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Malaysia.”
The exporter states, “Once the fresh strawberry season ends around February of this year, we’ll beginning a new job of not less significance, and that will be exporting frozen strawberries. In this case, I also expect the volume to surpass that of this season. That’s the 200,000 tonnes.”
