Denizli commences the harvesting season for quinces with a favorable harvest and higher export price

Denizli is launching the quince harvest which saw producers from areas like Pinarkent and Kocadere in the last week of September. The harvest has been described to be good across different regions in the Pamukkale district. The cost of quinces targeted towards the market for exports is increasing between $0.44 up to $0.73 per kilogram as compared with last year’s price as per Erhan Cayli.

The fertile soil and the climate conditions have been rated as suitable for growing quince which yields six thousand tonnes over 500 acres. Most of the fruit is intended for export markets like those of the European Union and Russia, for a wholesale rate at 16 TL/kg. The remaining quinces go to jam and juice makers at various costs. Cayli stressed that it is important to maintain top-quality production, and diversifying the agricultural practices through the incorporation of different fruit varieties alongside quince.
