China has temporarily suspended exports to Taiwan mangoes, saying that insects ( Planococcus Minor mealybugs) have been found. The suspension comes into effect Tuesday, and the China’s General Administration of Customs has been requesting Taiwan to strengthen its quarantine control system.
China has employed fruits in diplomatic relations before this, and the suspension came just days after Beijing has announced air and naval drills for force in an “stern warning” against what it described as Taiwan independent forces. China has expressed its anger over the passage of Taiwan Vice President Lai Ching-te through the US as well as his comments concerning Taiwan’s position.
Taiwan is deeply disappointed the fact that China is adamant that it has “repeatedly” stopped trade indefinitely, with no an exchange of information, Taiwan’s Ministry of Agriculture said in an announcement. The ministry will continue to call on China to hold a dialog with Taiwan to find an acceptable solution, and return of mango sales as soon as it is feasible.
