The first plant for cherry packing located in the Coquimbo region began operations just a few days ago. It will help to improve logistical processes to facilitate the export of this variety of fruit. It is owned of Teno Fruit, began its operation using the Santina variety. It is the first variety to be exported to China during the 2023/2024 season. It is a moment in the process, since its delivery begins in week 43. It will be prior to the first shipment from the central and southern regions of Chile.

In the initial day of operation, the facility processed approximately 500 kg of this variety. They were scheduled to be delivered on October 24, via planes from Santiago and thus reducing the logistic chain. Before that, farmers in the region had to transport the produce for processing and packing to Metropolitan and O’Higgins regions to process and packaging.

The company is expected to begin operating at its maximum capacity this week. It will be able to handle 20-25 tons being processed each shift. The goal is to handle between 200 to 300 tons this time of the year.
