New stone plant designers have designed a revolutionary fruit plants on display in Madrid

Sorma Group Sorma Group will be exhibiting once more at Fruit Attraction to meet established and prospective customers of the trade and provide information on its numerous innovations in post-harvest processing and packing of fruits and other vegetables. These projects include one of the most advanced and the largest (in the terms of output per day) production line that has ever been built for stone fruits.

The stone processing line for fruit

“Thanks to our catalog that includes more than 160 designs that include machines as well as 50 packaging. It is illustrated by the latest stone fruit processing plant, which was built, installed and put into operation for a large Spanish client. The line for processing fruit this summer is among the biggest ever in the world, with regard to production daily and is a perfect example of the efficiency and modern technology of Sorma machines.” says Mario Mercadini, the company’s Marketing Manager.

The Sorma technologies used include:

The optical sorter machine that comes with HyperVision is installed on every single line of the 21 graders. The operating system has 9 cameras per line as well as InstanDefect’s proprietary artificial vision software that is based in Artificial Intelligence, HyperVision is capable of grading the fruits’ internal and external quality. It also provides a product-grading precision that is unmatched in the industry and is a crucial technology for the efficacy of plants.

The unique trolley conveyor for fruit is built inside the sorter machine that allows processing of kinds of fruit (generally certain models are utilized in each type). The plant therefore is extremely adaptable. It is capable of processing up to 4 kinds of fruits simultaneously and offers two different processing methods based upon the fruit’s level of ripeness. Its ripeness is accurately measured through the HyperVision optical system.

“This plant,” says Daniele Severi, Director of the Technology Division at Sorma Iberica, “far surpasses anything previously built and installed to process the summer fruits, with respect to both production capacity which could reach as high as one million kilograms of processed fruit within a single day as well as the degree of automation that has been implemented to allow the reduction of 15-20% on staff numbers during every day processing. This has resulted in an immediate impact on labour cost with respect to ROI (Return on Investment). The plant has been created to address the demands of the vegetable industry for an adaptable practical response to today’s demand for distribution that is constantly changing.”

The group will also showcase its Aporo II, a packing machine that was developed based on research within New Zealand, for which the Group is the European dealer. Utilizing a set of robot arms, the machine can place eight fruits into the pockets in a single go.

Sorma Group Sorma Group will also offers environmentally friendly products. They include the Sormabag with a woven net made by using only 40 percent less plastic than conventional nets, the line that can be composted along with the unique Sormapaper which is a plastic-free line that comes in a variety of sizes that are 100% recycled FSC-certified papers as well as the cellulose net.
