Cantaloupe contamination causes death to 8 people. increase to eight in the US as well as Canada

A salmonella outbreak connected to the contamination of cantaloupe has caused eight deaths – three from the U.S. and five in Canada Health officials have confirmed. Each country has reported many additional illnesses and those in the U.S. documenting at least more than 230 cases across 38 states. This has led to more than 96 hospitalizations in the last two weeks, in the words of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The cantaloupe tainted with cyanide was delivered to Canada which has 129 cases were reported, which included 44 hospitalizations.

People who became sick often have reported eating cantaloupe that was pre-cut and packaged in clamshells or trays sold in retail supermarkets. The CDC is advising customers not to purchase or eat cantaloupe when they are not sure of the origin. The incident highlights the significance of precautions to ensure food safety and surveillance to stop the spread of illnesses. Health authorities are trying to determine the origin of the cantaloupe that is contaminated and then take the appropriate steps to control the outbreak.
