Experts have noted a dramatic drop in the import of fruit and vegetables from the Kuzbass region. The import of vegetables and fruits within the Kemerovo region are nearly half in the last year.

In the month of December 2023, Kuzbass exported 621.3 tons of food items from outside the country, which is almost 50% of the amount reported in the month of December 2022. In contrast to November 2023 the number of imported goods increased by six percent rise in imports of products.

As per the press office from the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) for the Republics of Khakassia and Tuva in addition to in the Kemerovo zone, large proportion of imported non-quarantine items came from Kazakhstan in the amount of 578.7 tonnes. These comprised onions (393.6 tonnes) as well as carrots (73 tons) and potatoes (30 tonnes) as well as dried fruits (27.5 tons) as well as the cabbage (20 tons) along with the apples (16.2 tonnes).

In addition, 42,667 tons food products for quarantine were shipped from Kyrgyzstan with 25,285 tonnes of nuts. There were also 6,767 tonne of dried fruit as well as 1.05 tons of berries that were fresh.

The absence of quarantined objects was not evident in the recently imported food items.
