South Mill Champs and Grupo APAL join forces in a joint venture strategic to increase the production of mushrooms in Mexico

South Mill Champs, a top North American grower and supplier of high-quality fresh mushrooms as well as functional food products made from mushrooms, today announced it had entered in a cross-border alliance with Grupo APAL in order to create an 50/50 Mexican joint venture Royal Champs S. de R.L. de C.V.

Royal Champs will build and run composting and mushroom growth facilities across Mexico mostly for importation and integration into South Mill Champs’ extensive supply chain across Canada and the United States and Canada.

Our Mexican expansion, coupled with the expansions that we have made of our operations in British Columbia and Pennsylvania in recent times, illustrates our dedication to modernizing and advancing the field of mushroom production throughout North America.”

Grupo APAL is the private investment firm that is owned by the Mr. Paredes arroyo, dairy manufacturer, supplier as well as shareholder in Alpura Dairy Products firm based in Mexico City.

Royal Champs plans to break ground this year to build an innovative, Dutch-style integrated facility for mushrooms that includes the compost phase 3, mushroom cultivation farms and packing facilities on an area of 257 acres close to Queretaro, Mexico.
