This air freight service highlights Maersk’s dedication to provide the most seamless and cost-effective access to the major Latin American markets. The Miami gateway will function as the strategic hub of Maersk’s worldwide transportation network.
John Wetherell, Global Head of Air Freight Forwarding at Maersk: “Our Miami expansion is crucial and a strategic enhancement to Maersk’s global gateway network connecting Asia, Europe, and the US to Latin America.”
The new gateway, which is modeled on the operations of Atlanta, Chicago, and Los Angeles, will focus on the transhipment of European as well as Asian cargo from Miami into Latin America with competitive connectivity in terms of passenger and freight capacity. It will aid in Latin America’s North American export market to Latin America and the Asian market which is used to support that Latin American supply chain via costs that are competitive with U.S. routes.
Staffed by internal Maersk Air Freight forwarding professionals The 90,000 square feet installation (8,000 sq m) will likely to see substantial southward flow and comes with important certifications such as:
- U.S. Customs bonded Container Freight Station (CFS)
- Certified Cargo Screening Facility (CCSF)
Brent Mayhew has highlighted the advantages of these new services to clients moving high-value, time-sensitive cargo. He said: “Adding to our global gateway network, this new addition to Miami offers our customers significant value by leveraging the benefits of structured routing in an environment of gateways.
