Cambodia saw a significant rise in the exports of agricultural goods during the first quarter of 2024. The total was 6.13 million tonnes. That’s an increase of 57 percent from 3.9 million tonnes reported in the year prior as per the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) report. Exports from Cambodia increased to USD2.85 billion in the Jan-June period. This is a nearly 19 percent rise from USD2.4 billion recorded in the same period in the previous year.
The range of exportable agriculture-related products comprised the following: rice, rubber, mangoes and cassava as well as fresh fruits, peppers, bananas cashew nuts, longan corn, longan oil. The main markets for these commodities include Vietnam, Thailand, China and South Korea. The sector of agriculture, which has been highlighted as a major component of the Cambodian economy, also supports other aspects like clothing and tourism exports of footwear, and construction as well as real estate business.
The Minister of MAFF Dith Tina highlighted Cambodia’s achievements in ensuring food security, and creating agricultural products that exceed expectations for exports from the country. The country exports more than 8 millions tonnes worth of agriculture products which generated more than USD5 billion of revenue.
