In the northern Vietnamese province Hai Duong has been taking measures to increase sales of lychee. The lychees of the Thanh Ha district will be developing in the second half of May. The district is famous for its lychees. Thanh Ha is currently home to 3,265 ha of the fruit. This includes 1,700ha of fruit that is ripe early. Nearly 400ha of the land has been certified to meet VietGAP standards, and 50ha has been certified as GlobaGAP.
China is still an important market for Vietnamese Lychees. The lychee trade to China is likely to face a variety of challenges since this country is a strict and high-quality requirement regarding imports of agricultural goods, therefore local governments should focus in the area of production organization and control of quality, as stated by To Ngoc Son, Deputy Director of the Asia – Africa Market Department in the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
