California expands HLB quarantine in San Diego County

16 September 2024 The California Department of Food and Agriculture approved an expansion of Huanglongbing (HLB) warning within San Diego County. The decision was driven by an HLB positive test on the mandarin tree within a residential zone in The Fallbrook neighborhood. In the aftermath, the mandatory quarantine zone was established covering a 5-mile area around the area of finding. In this zone, the transport of the hosts nursery stock, together as host plants and parts is prohibited.

Furthermore, this latest investigation has incorporated other parts in San Diego County into the Bulk Citrus Regional Quarantine Zone 6. Therefore, commercial growers in the zone affected must now implement further mitigation measures in order to prevent transporting citrus-related products within or outside of the zone designated for HLB zone of quarantine.
