Australian table grapes have returned to the Philippines, marking a new wave of fruit from one of Australia’s notable harvests. The 2024–25 season benefited from favorable conditions, resulting in quality grapes with increased volumes.
Jeff Scott, CEO of the Australian Table Grape Association (ATGA), stated, “This season’s grapes are among the finest we’ve ever exported.” These grapes are described as crisp, sweet, and flavorful, aligning with Filipino consumer expectations for Australian fruit.
Luisa Rust, Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner at Austrade in Manila, commented on the partnership with the ATGA, emphasizing the importance of the Philippines as a trade partner for Australia.
The ATGA is initiating an in-store promotional campaign across major Philippine retailers, including The Marketplace, Shopwise, Robinsons Supermarket, S&R, Landers, Metro Supermarket, and Joel’s Place. These promotions will include displays, sampling activities, and information on the grapes’ taste, origin, and quality.
Traditional varieties like Autumn Crisp and Candy Dreams remain popular, while new seedless varieties offer unique textures and flavors. These innovations align with Australia’s focus on consumer-driven production, meeting the Filipino market’s interest in premium fruit.
Jesse White, International Marketing Manager at ATGA, observed the growing curiosity in the Philippines for new taste experiences, noting the blend of classic and new grape varieties.
In 2023–24, the Philippines was a top destination for Australian grapes, with over 8,500 tons exported, ranking fourth among Australia’s global markets. With strong supply and consumer interest, ATGA anticipates continued growth.
